The Department of Biochemistry offers a wide variety of academic, leadership and needs-based awards to recognize outstanding student achievement and provide support for our Biochemistry Specialist and Major students.
Course Based Awards
Dr. R. Roy Baker Award - This annual award is presented to an outstanding Biochemistry Major student with the highest final grade in BCH210H-Biochemistry 1:Proteins, Lipids, and Metabolism. The Department recognizes the many years of service that Dr. Roy Baker provided, the excellence of his teaching particularly in this course, and the leading role he played in the creation of the Biochemistry Major program.
Lois Dove Biochemistry Award - In conjunction with the Division of Teaching Laboratories (DTL), an award is given each year to recognize the outstanding achievement of one student in BCH370H-Laboratory Course in Biochemical Techniques. Read about Lois Dove, her contribution, and the award here.
Jacqueline Giles and Edith Anderson Award - This annual award is presented to an outstanding Biochemistry Specialist student with the highest final grade in BCH377H - Biochemistry Laboratory I .
Patricia Bronskill, Dorothy Johnson, and Dorothy Painter Award - This annual award is presented to an outstanding Biochemistry Specialist student with the highest final grade in BCH478H-Advanced Biochemistry Laboratory.
Note: Application is not required, students will be nominated by the undergraduate awards committee.
Overall Academic Awards
Daniel Wilson Scholarship - This annual award is presented to an outstanding 3rd year Biochemistry student with high academic achievement.
Amy Britton Award - This annual award is presented to an outstanding 4th year Biochemistry student with high academic achievement.
Ross S. Lang Scholarship in Life Sciences - This annual award is presented to an outstanding 4th year Biochemistry student with high academic achievement. Award recipient is rotated between PSL and BCH.
