Biochemistry Golf Day 2025 was held on Tuesday, August 26th at the Flemingdon Park Golf Club located along the Don River. Six teams played the Scramble Tournament through afternoon showers to compete their 9-hole rounds. The winning team of Mike Folinas, Anna Vanek and Brent Corkum -“A Past from the Past” -scored an impressive 4 under par to hoist the Biochemistry Cup, followed closely by the “Right-Lefties” team of Mike Ohh, Scott Yuzwa, David Malkin and Thomas Kislinger at 3 under. Novice golfer Nana Lee had the longest Women’s Drive, while J-P Julien had the longest Men’s Drive. Thomas Kislinger won the Men’s Closest to the Hole. The “Westenders” team consisting of Jeff Charuk, Allen Volchuk, Adrian Volchuk and Phil Bilan came in at 2 under par, while the “ERadicals” - David Williams, Sian Patterson, Nana Lee, and Reinhart Reithmeier - were at even par. “The Archaic Microbes” -Trevor Moraes, Roman Melnyk, J-P Julien and Greg Cole - were four over par while the most honest golfer team- “Just in Time” - Don Stewart and Stuart Berger – came in at 6 over par. After the round, everyone took refuge in the club house for drinks and to cash in on some prizes. A brief break in the showers allowed everyone to assemble on the 1st tee for a group photo. There was considerable enthusiasm to continue the tournament, and everyone was looking forward to playing next year.
