Congratulations to Katherine Matthew on 2026 ACD Fellowship

Headshot of Katherine Matthew

Congratulations to Katherine Matthew, MSc student in Dr. Andreas Schulze’s lab, on being named one of the 6 recipients of the 2026 Association of Creatine Deficiencies (ACD) Fellowship.

Over the next year, Katherine will conduct research aimed at advancing treatment options for Creatine Deficiency Syndromes (CDS).

Her work will use nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy and CRISPR knockout screen to investigate how intracellular creatine levels are regulated. She will also examine the intracellular localization of AGAT using subcellular fractionation and electron microscopy. Together, this research will help improve our understanding of what is involved in creatine regulation to support the development of novel drugs for
CDS patients.

We’re proud to celebrate Katherine’s achievement and showcase her work within the Department of Biochemistry!
