21st Annual Benjamin Schachter Memorial Lecture

The Department of Biochemistry was pleased to host the 21st Annual Benjamin Schachter Memorial Lecture on May 21, 2026, at Hart House, University of Toronto. This year's event brought together graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, faculty, staff, and alumni for an evening of career exploration, networking, and community building.

The evening featured an engaging alumni career panel with Dr. Heather Lau, Investment Associate at Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan, and Dr. Wei-Lin Ou, Senior Account Manager at Clarivate. The panelists shared insights into their career paths beyond academia, reflected on the skills developed through graduate training, and offered thoughtful advice on navigating diverse career opportunities.

Following the panel discussion, attendees participated in a structured networking dinner and open networking session, providing opportunities for meaningful conversations and connections with the panelists and members of the Department of Biochemistry community.
