Modelling human diseases from cells to organoids

This course will discuss a variety of cell and tissue models, including those derived from human stem cells, and their applications for studying human diseases and for pre-clinical drug development. Students will select a model system (not in active research use by the student) and will present to the class the current knowledge, advantages and limitations of the model as well as potential applications. Students will prepare a short written assignment on how a selected 3D model has been or could be used to study a specific problem, including those of relevance to the student’s research program.
