The Men and Women of Summer are Back! The 2015 Biochemistry Mutants

The Biochem Softball Team is together again after a two-year hiatus! The Mutants had their first game on May 22nd against the Iguanas. Despite the best efforts of the Mutants, they lost the game by 1 point. The team’s weakest inning was the 4th, where they gave up 7 runs resulting in a score of 10 to 3 for the Iguanas. The Mutants came back strong in the 5th and 6th innings during which time they scored 7 runs on offense and gave up only a single run on defense. That brought the game to a nail-biting 11 to 10 for the Iguanas but, despite a tremendous effort, the Mutants couldn’t bring in a last run to tie the game.

This year’s team has 26 players on the roster, of which 18 were active for the game on May 22nd. Excitingly, four players during the game were complete neophytes, so congratulations to them for making some big plays. The MVP for the game was Brandon Sit who had two hits and scored two runs. A special mention also goes out to Kristina Han for managing the chaos of the first game. A huge thanks also needs to go to IDT for sponsoring the Mutants this year and providing the team with the stylish technical jerseys.

The Mutants had a bye week during the week of June 29th, and are back again on July 7th when they play the Time Bandits. The Time Bandits are currently 1-1-0 having just come off a victory against The Iguana’s last week.
