Program Information

Description

The graduate program in Biomolecular Structure is a collaborative program involving the Departments of Biochemistry, Chemistry, Molecular Genetics and Medical Biophysics.

It is designed to create a stimulating learning environment for students with a broad interest in biomolecular structure.

Admission to the Program/Prerequisites

To be eligible to participate in the program, students must be enrolled in the PhD program in one of the four host departments and be training under the supervision of one of the participating investigators. In general, supervisors are affiliated with only one or two of the four participating departments. Specific departmental admission requirements and application forms can be obtained directly from the graduate coordinators of the four participating departments.

Course Requirements

Students enrolled in the program will be required to take JBB 2026H (Protein Structure, Folding and Design), and an additional half-course in a specialized topic (eg. JBB 2025H). Moreover, students will also be required to participate in the student seminar series.

In general, students enrolled in the program will be expected to fulfill the course requirements of both the program and the host department. However, it is anticipated that in most cases course work required by the program will serve to fulfill, in part, departmental requirements.
